This year’s beginner training workshops will be held jointly with the Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network (IBMN) on zoom. The workshops consist of two sections. The first covers how to get started monitoring in both programs and how to follow the survey protocols. For the second half we will split into breakout rooms for butterfly and dragonfly/damselfly identification training. If you would like to join both IOS and IBMN you may register for two separate sessions or attend the April 7th session which will have the identification sections presented consecutively.
You may sign up for any session, but we highly recommend attending one with the region you would like to monitor if listed. These sessions will provide some additional information on volunteering within each respective region.

Advanced Odonate Identification
This does not include the general training session required for monitoring. This workshop is for those who have already attended a general training workshop and can easily identify the species in the “top 25” observed list. Those not planning to monitor but would like to increase their Odonate identification skills are welcome.
